Do you care how your student activities fee is spent and how would you like to see it spent?

What do you know about student senate activities?

How well do you think the student senate publicizes activities?

“I do care how my student activities fee is spent.

“Maybe the money can be spent to have a huge barbeque at the end of the semester…

“I do not know anything about WCC student senate activities. I didn’t even know we had a student senate. They don’t publicize very well, considering I’m at school every day… I think they need to consider changing their advertising techniques.”
—Ha‘aheo Bento

“Yes, I do care how it is spent. But for the most part, I think that it seems to be spent pretty well.

“I don’t know much about WCC student senate activities.

“I don’t think that the student senate publicizes activities very thoroughly. I have wished that I could have attended a lot of them, but didn’t know about them until after the fact. And a few times I have attended functions that I only heard about because my teachers were the ones putting them on.”
—Jarin King

“Yes, of course I care! I would like to see it spent on activities that will really encourage more students to get involved hands-on. I don’t know a whole lot about WCC student senate activities, except through some fliers and sometimes in the school paper. I think the student senate could emphasize their activities a little better by increasing their publications and/or notices in more and different places. It is very important so as to keep students well-informed to what is happening on their campus and maybe find ways to get involved if possible.”
— Jacob Almanza

“I do care about how my student activities fee is spent. I would like to see it spent giving discounts to the purchasing of textbooks. . . . With the rising costs of textbooks, students will have some assistance with the costs, alleviating their educational expenses just a bit.

“I do not know much about WCC student senate activities because I spend most of my available time studying…I do read fliers and school newspapers, which tell me a little bit about senate activities.

“The student senate does not publicize activities as well as they should. Maybe it’s because I am not particularly interested that I fail to see their publications.”
— Liz Bizzarro

“Here at Windward, we don’t really know where our money is going…and for me, I am so busy with so many other things (school, work, home life, etc.) that I don’t really care when and how my student activity fee is spent. I don’t have time to participate in many school-related festivities/activities so I don’t feel directly affected.

“I don’t think that the student senate publicizes activities. They need to get the students more involved. They should make banners that let students know about upcoming activities, etc.”
— Dana Watanabe

“I didn’t know there was a student activities fee. Now that I know, I would like to see it spent on activities that will help us in our classes.

“I didn’t know our school had a student government. I don’t even know who our representatives are. Whoever they are, they don’t publicize themselves or their activities well because I don’t even know anything like this existed here. So I guess I’m paying for something that I know nothing about. Am I allowed to get my money back?”
— Jamie Napihaa

“I personally don’t care how the student activities fee is spent. This is because I don’t participate in the events. . .

“I know little to nothing about WCC student senate activities. I am definitely not opposed to it though. I don’t think the activities are publicized well enough…I think word of mouth is the best way to publicize on campus.”
— Thomas Duddy
